Deixa-me rir...

"Caros audiophiles, this Easter week I have chosen some extracts from the film musical Jesus Christ Superstar from 1973.
Considered controversial by some Christian and Jewish religious groups for suggesting, they believed, that Jesus may not be divine and that the Jews were responsible for Jesus' death, and perhaps partly because of its 'rock opera' artistic medium, I believe instead that it successfully tries to humanize Jesus, to "strip away the myth from the man", similar to the more recent films The Last Temptation of Christ and The Passion. I do not believe it denies necessarily his divinity. Through the eyes in particular of Judas Iscariot - who sees the human-ness of Jesus and the desire among his fellow people for a new spiritual messiah, but who also fears retribution from Rome - and of Pontius Pilate who also sees Jesus as a political victim, JCS tries also to observe the events in its social/political context and also comments on how perhaps Jesus might have been regarded if He had lived in today's world of mass communication and PR marketing. Would Jesus be revered if He appeared on earth today as the Son of God?
JCS has become one of the most popular and loved musicals ever. Not just because it contains brilliant music and lyrics (based on the text of St John's Gospel) but because also it has helped to make the story of Jesus more approachable, understandable and relevant for the modern world.
I managed to find only one video extract which contains Portuguese subtitles but I hope that most of you will be familiar already.

  2. hi po,

liked your post. i thought that i would escape Andrew Lloyd Weber with the musical you presented, well i didn't: he wrote "I Don't Know How to Love Him", didn't he?

the clarinet piece that i had told you about some time ago is an interpretation of 'mood indigo' that i've heard a long time ago and that i've not forgotten - how could i? it's beautiful.

    beijo e Santa Páscoa:)

  3. Hi Maria, yes ALW wrote the music for I don't Know How To Love Him (lyrics by Tim Rice), also from Jesus CS.
What do you mean 'escape' from him? You don't like Lloyd Webber? Nor do I much, not since Evita. PO

  5. If you are like me and love garlic, you are already too
late. Use the cultivator to make holes in the soil and turn it up just a little between
the rows. Try these top five organic garden weed controls that actually work.

  6. Most of these senior citizens are not comfortable
with the use of internet or are incapable of visiting the State Comptrollers office
and thus for them newspaper listings does the job. Your local newspapers are dynamic ways to boost your business in more far-reaching local coverage in your
city. He quickly became a well known activist for Islamic revivalism calling for the ouster of pro-western governments using violent means if necessary.
Sometimes local PR can attract better business for you than an article in Indian media.

Until I was five I lived with my mother's younger sister Dorothy and my grandmother, who told me before she died that my mother had received letters from my father for some years after bringing me to New York.

  7. Next, blend the oils and massage into scalp for two to four
minutes before sleep. Comb the excess oil through the dampened hair, making
sure to cover the ends of the hair. Sometimes, this process
starts from the temples and goes back, and sometimes it begins from the top of the head.
The remaining oil in the scalp for a day and then follow up with a shampoo
the next morning. Many people use hair greases to keep their hair moisturized.
