Deixa-me rir...

"Caros Audiophiles, the Christmas spirit for me began last weekend with a wonderful carols concert at the magnificent Royal Albert Hall. The Hall was lit by candles and the choir singers and the orchestra were dressed, Mozart-style, in 18C costumes.

I hope that by now you have enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with families and friends. I wish you all a 2013 full of excitement, prosperity, love...and great music!

My first selection is a lovely accappella song from Christmas 1973 by English folk group Steeleye Span. That same year produced some classic Christmas pop songs. Christmas in Britain would not be the same without hearing in every shop the sounds of Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody and Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day. But Steeleye Span's beautiful Gaudete, a surprise hit, reminds everyone of why we celebrate Christmas:

Gaudete, gaudete
Christus est natus
ex Maria virginae
Gaudete

This second video celebrates love, and remembers the year gone by and sends best wishes for the coming year. A sweet melody that makes use of the Scottish song Auld Lang Syne (For Old Times) which everyone sings just after midnight to welcome the New Year:

Ate proximo ano!
