I was listening to the late night radio a few nights ago and by chance the DJ played a piece of his music. Apparently, like me, some of the listeners had not heard his music for many years, and were thrilled to be reminded. Most listeners, like you I imagine, had never heard of him or his music, but evidently some also were curious to hear for the first time - "who is this guy?, what is this music called?, how can we find his music?" they emailed and tweeted to the radio station.
EAJ designed and built his own purple coloured 5-string (not the usual 4-string) electric violin. His CD recordings are totally 'live' performances, with no backing tapes, overdubs or re-mixing; instead he uses pedals to create music loops and delays and special effects. He sounds somewhere between Pachelbel's Canon and Mike Oldfield's electronica.
The DJ announced that it is the 20th anniversary of his CD Purple Electric Violin Concerto which is now to be re-promoted.
Perhaps Ed Alleyne-Johnson's time has finally arrived. Or maybe there is good reason why he will remain more or less a cult unknown.

Sounds very interesting, P. Money wise, it would be great for him to be known in the mainstream. Maybe for me, in a rather selfish way, I prefer that he remains a kind of unusual, very special and unique cult violinist! Bjs and hope you are feeling better. pcp
